The first Krispy Kreme actually opened in North Carolina (in 1937), but these tastey treats have become a part of Atlanta's culinary identity. When people refer to “the Krispy Kreme”, they probably mean the store at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Argonne Avenues. Opened in 1965 and remodelled in 2003, the restaurant features old-fashioned, diner-style swivel seats and an open view of the conveyer belt moving hundreds of doughnuts an hour.
