| Piedmont Park was designed by Joseph Forsyth Johnson in 1887 when he landscaped the grounds for the Piedmont Exposition in that year, creating the oval along Piedmont Avenue, formerly a racetrack and now playing fields. Grant Wilkins redesigned the park in 1895 for the Cotton States and International Exposition, creating the park lake and reshaping or creating most of the landscape features familiar today. |
